Who We Are

Medical Care Group Q.P.S.C. was established in late 1996. It is a Qatari public shareholding company listed on the main market of the Qatar Stock Exchange in the Consumer Goods and Services sector under the ticker symbol (MCGS). We are a group specializing in building unique hospitals and clinics that provide the best medical and therapeutic care services. In addition to Al-Ahli Hospital, our flagship healthcare center, we look forward to launching more initiatives and projects and establishing additional medical and healthcare facilities, including the Al-Ahli Center for Healthy Nutrition (Haya), the Enaya Healthcare Services Center, and the Al-Ahli Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Center (Raya).

The first version of the Medical Care Group plan was drafted by ten prominent businessmen from Qatar in 1989. Initially, the project idea was to build a private hospital with a capacity of 100 beds specializing in pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology. In 1990, the founders acquired several hectares of land in the Wadi Al-Sail area, as support from the Qatari government to build a new healthcare facility, which was already established there, with the generous support of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. Second.

On December 17, 1995, the office of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of the State of Qatar, issued an Emiri Decree establishing Al-Ahli Hospital, now known as the Healthcare Group Q.P.S.C. Under the patronage of His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, the healthcare project attracted increased interest, attracting a greater number of new investors, and the original ten founders grew to 100. To complete the incorporation procedures and manage the project’s development, a Founding Committee was elected in 1996, chaired by Mr. Abdulrahman Essa Al Mannai.

After carefully reviewing the project plan, the Founding Committee decided to build a multi-specialty hospital with a capacity of 250 beds. The goal was to provide guests with an experience similar to that of a luxury five-star hotel, offering the highest quality healthcare services in a calm and friendly atmosphere. In 2001, a major step was taken to align the hospital’s financial structure with Islamic principles and the statutes. This followed the election of a new Board of Directors, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani. Second Chairman, the loan originally obtained to build the hospital was converted into Islamic financing, compliant with Sharia law.

As a result, the capital was increased, and the debt was fully repaid. By 2006, full ownership of the hospital was transferred to the investors.

By January 1, 2004, the hospital was fully equipped with the latest medical technology. In November of the same year, it officially opened for business, marking a major leap forward in providing the best and most advanced healthcare services to the community.
